Privacy Policy
What RelationshipAI actually stores, why, who can see it, and what you can do about it — written in plain language, not legal boilerplate for its own sake.
This is a draft, not a substitute for legal advice
This page was written to be honest and specific about what RelationshipAI does today. It is not a substitute for review by a qualified privacy lawyer, especially before any wider launch, app-store submission, or processing of EU users' data at scale. If you're reading this as RelationshipAI's operator: get this reviewed before you rely on it as your actual privacy policy.
This website
This page is currently a preview of RelationshipAI — the app itself is not open yet, and we collect no account or personal data here. To see how many people are interested we use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service that counts page visits and clicks on buttons without cookies and without storing personal information about you.
What we collect
Account basics: your name, email address, and password (stored as a hash, never in plain text). Your Coach Chat conversations, including any files or photos you attach. Your Partner Practice conversations, the partner profiles you create (a partner's name, personality traits, context, attachment style, and anything RelationshipAI has inferred or you've pasted in about how they communicate), and any scenario, intensity, or role-swap settings you choose for a rehearsal. Your daily relationship question answers, and (once you link a partner's account) your shared daily-question history together. Usage data needed to run the product — plan, daily usage counts, timestamps. If you subscribe to a paid plan, billing is handled by Stripe; we store your subscription status, not your card details.
About the data on your partner
Partner Practice is built around a real, honest limitation: to roleplay a specific person convincingly, RelationshipAI has to store information about that person — their name, personality, and communication patterns — even though they are not the one with a RelationshipAI account and have not themselves agreed to it. This is personal data about a third party, and we think you should know that plainly rather than have it buried. In practice: keep what you enter about a partner to what you'd be comfortable them knowing you noticed, use it to prepare for a kinder conversation rather than to build a case against them, and understand that if your partner ever asks what's stored about them, the honest answer is "what I told the app, and what it inferred from how I described you."
How your data is used
To provide the product: generating coaching replies, roleplaying a partner, rewriting a draft message, and (with an attachment style set or after enough Coach Chat history) quietly calibrating tone to you specifically — see our method page for the frameworks this draws on. Message content is sent to OpenAI's API to generate responses; OpenAI processes it to return a reply but per their API terms does not use API data to train their models. We do not sell your data, and we do not share your conversations or partner profiles with anyone else, including your partner, without your explicit action (e.g. using the Share feature, which is opt-in and item-by-item).
How long we keep it, and your rights
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can download a complete copy of everything stored about your account — profile, partner profiles, and full conversation history — at any time from your account page, and you can delete your account and all data tied to it yourself from the same page (it asks for your password first, and can't be undone). To protect against data loss we keep rolling database backups; a deleted account can therefore remain in those backups for up to about a week before they're overwritten. If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, these are the same underlying rights GDPR describes as access, portability, and erasure — we're describing them here in plain terms rather than citing the regulation article by article, which is exactly the kind of thing a real legal review should tighten up.
Who processes your data for us
RelationshipAI relies on a few service providers to run: a hosting provider (Railway) where the app and database live, OpenAI to generate AI replies and spoken audio, Stripe for payments, and an email provider (Resend) to send verification, reset and reminder emails. They only receive what's needed for their part of the job.
Security
Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. Traffic to RelationshipAI is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to the underlying database is limited to what's needed to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we'd rather say that plainly than imply a guarantee we can't back up.
Questions
If you have questions about this policy or want to exercise any of the rights above, reach out through the account you registered with and we'll respond directly.
